COMPO, Europe's leading supplier of branded goods for the home and garden, has acquired all the shares in Mannheim-based Heinr. Propfe Chem. Fabrik GmbH retroactively as of 1 January 2022.
Founded in Mannheim in 1868, the family-owned business is now in its fourth generation and still stands for the same values: tradition and innovation combined. Propfe now develops and produces innovative fertilisers using natural, organic raw materials. Working with COMPO for years, the business has built up extraordinary expertise in organic liquid fertilisers, in particular.
"After years of cooperating successfully and in good faith, I am delighted that Heinr. Propfe Chem. Fabrik GmbH will be continued as part of COMPO and further developed in our common interest," says Doctor Herbert Theodor Propfe, sole shareholder and managing director of Heinr. Propfe Chem. Fabrik GmbH. He will continue to work closely with COMPO as a consultant. Propfe adds: "COMPO's innovative capacity and direction provides the basis for further developing our high level of product quality and performance, transferring it from professional users to end customers, while strengthening our sustainability standards."
"Heinr. Propfe Chem. Fabrik GmbH is a highly specialised family business and stands for extraordinary expertise in the premium quality organic fertiliser segment," COMPO Group CEO Stephan Engster looks forward to working with Propfe. "Joining the COMPO Group is a further step in our defined sustainability strategy and makes a valuable contribution to the expansion of our eco-sustainable product range – always in keeping with the COMPO quality guarantee. Customer benefits are always at the centre of the strategy. After all, environmental awareness, climate protection and sustainability are already a constant and firmly established part of the everyday lives of many hobby gardeners." Across Europe, organic products already have a revenue share of about 30 per cent in the market for soils, fertilisers, lawn care and plant protection. "It is reasonable to assume that this share will rise to more than 50 per cent across Europe. Organic is becoming the new normal," says Engster. COMPO shareholder Duke Street also welcomes the strategic decision. Environmental protection and the development of eco-sustainable products are also a major priority for all of us.
