COMPO Advanced Release Technology revolutionises the solid fertiliser segment

COMPO has invested in the expansion and comprehensive modernisation of its headquarters in Münster.  It is therefore the most advanced production facility for organic and organic-mineral solid fertilisers in Europe. With the commissioning in September 2024, the leading brand of products for plants in homes and gardens is setting new standards in technology, quality and sustainability. The pioneering COMPO Advanced Release Technology will create a new generation of solid fertilisers with a unique grain structure and performance.

Investment in COMPO locations is the key to sustainable innovation and market leadership

”Innovation is a key driver of our success. The basis for this is the availability of resources and investment in our employees and our sites,” explains Stephan Engster, CEO of COMPO. After significant investments in the liquid fertiliser category, including the liquid fertiliser facility in 2020 and the integration of Propfe GmbH into the group in 2022, COMPO is now reaching a key milestone in the solid fertiliser segment. The most advanced production facility for organic and organic-mineral solid fertilisers in Europe has been built at the Münster site. “Our production process harmonises ecology and technology and demonstrates that the quality and sustainability of a high-performance product can be further improved with the appropriate commitment, expertise and goal orientation,” says Stephan Engster.

COMPO Advanced Release Technology for maximum results

COMPO Advanced Release Technology has a grain structure that is unique in its kind and defines the next generation of COMPO fertiliser. It is characterised by a particularly fine, organic surface, which has a significantly larger active surface area than a smooth shaped grain. This is a due to its its many small irregularities and curves. ”The resulting fertilisers combine an outstanding immediate effect with an optimised long-term result,” explains Lars Wagner, Head of Business Development Supply Chain. “The nutrients are available to the plants very soon after application. At the same time, the grain structure and ingredients provide the continuous release of nutrients over the longer term.“ This ensures an even and efficient supply of plant-relevant nutrients, which in turn supports plant growth and also promotes the health of the soil. The targeted release and optimum distribution of nutrients stimulates root growth. As a result this also leads to better absorption and nutrient utilisation.

Important milestone for a greener future

”The entire construction and facility design reflects COMPO's commitment to sustainability,” explains Lars Wagner. Wood was deliberately chosen as a building material. The energy required will be supplied by a modern photovoltaic system. ”The construction method makes it possible to expand production capacity with additional systems if required. This creates the ideal conditions to consistently pursue our organic growth strategy,“ adds Stephan Engster. With this pioneering investment project, COMPO has reached a significant milestone in its company-wide ESG programme and its green leadership promise.
